Field to Frame worked with Missoula County Department of Ecology and Extension and their constituents to develop an Interpretive Plan for the Rocky Mountain Gardens. The 6-month process resulted in a plan that guides interpretation throughout the new garden. Both permanent and flexible strategies were developed to allow for a growing and changing space.
Project Goals:
- The Rocky Mountain Gardens will provide interpretive opportunities to enhance visitors’ connection with and understanding of how plants influenced the lifeways of indigenous people, ethnobotany, local agriculture, horticulture, and home gardening.
- The Rocky Mountain Gardens will provide interpretive opportunities to make connections between the garden ecosystem and the broader environment.
- The garden will increase awareness of, participation in, and support the Missoula Department of Ecology and Extension’s mission and programs.
